As highlighted by Nick, we should be thinking about ethics in terms of our analytics cookies. Even though what we collect is anonymous, there is an argument that the most common design patterns of cookies is manipulative of the user as they don't really know what they are consent to and they don't have an option to opt-out.
We should make our cookies a yes or no pattern and not an 'ok' pattern.
Motivation
We are trying to be ethical and this should translate to all aspects of our tool.
Proposal
I think we should look at some examples of what we consider to be ethical design patterns for cookies and then choose one to implement. Here is just one example, but excluding the use of green and red here, as red on 'no' is manipulative.
