Solax inverter not responding to write requests

I've been happily using the configuration in solax_x1_hybrid_g3_triplepower with my inverter. However, I had some networking issues which I thought were resolved as I'm able to read registers without issue. I can't actually set the value used for the work_mode anymore on register 31 - to chose between Self-Use/Feedin etc. I'm getting:

[Input/Output] Modbus Error: [Invalid Message] No response received, expected at least 8 bytes (0 received)

I've downloaded pymodbus python package and manually tried to write to that register and it produces the same error. Is anyone else seeing the issue?

I have only witnessed something similar once. I can't remember the error message though.

Doing a complete power cycle corrected it.

My problem seemed to rectify itself eventually - multiple attempts at switching between static and dhcp eventually leaving it on static seemed to then causing everything to spring into life. It's odd - I'd got my router to assign the same IP when dhcp request was coming in but this doesn't seem to work - and needs static.
