At first thank you for this great app.

Second I have two questions:

  1. What are your plans for the future of this project? (Play store, website, releases for other os...)
  2. Are you interested in discussions about improvements or is it a more privat project?

I ask because it needed 3 issues and one pull request for a small change (play/pause). This is a little bit frustating for people who wants help.

But if you say clearly that you don't have interests it would be a statement and people may help in other projects.

Please don't misunderstand, That's not meant in a bad way.

Regards

I want to keep this app as simple as possible. Many people like it for this simplicity. The changes you proposed so far did not add a real feature. Most people do not need that because they do not switch off essential functions of the OS.

I will not publish the app on GooglePlay. This not allowed due to the non-commercial license of the BirdNET model according to their developer.

I will not make a version for other OS. But there are similar applications e.g. for RaspberryPi

I want to keep strings as few as possible to keep maintenance low and localization simple.
I currently have 17 apps on F-Droid, so I need to keep an eye on the maintenance effort of every change.

Localizations are welcome, support for Bluetooth microphones might be interesting.
But I do not want to make it another BirdNET-Pi logger.

Of course it would be great to increase the number of users so we need to spread the word.
If you have a ton of followers on Instagram or somewhere else, let them know...

If you have some ideas which could have a great impact on user experience, let me know and we can see which ones I like.

I am also accepting PRs in my other projects.

I'm reading what you write here above about whoBIRD not being available on Google Play. I'm ignorant about the technicities of the operation and I'm only a random user of the app, but when I recommend the app to a friend should I mention that they need F-droid and explain what F-droid is? I sure can do that, if that's the way to do it.

yes, that is the way.
The BirdNET model is not licensed for commercial use and they consider Google Play publication as such.
And I do not want to have my apps where all this malware and adware and tracking stuff is :-)
