Trying to panelize but get "Footprint with reference" not found

I have a small board with 3 parts, a 10pin nokia display socket and 2x5pin single row headers and have drawn a page border on the edge layer. When I want to panelize it I get the error
Cannot perform
"Footprint with reference" not found

Using Kicad 6 on Fedora 35, all updated, no DRC errors
Any suggestions as to where to look?

Could you share the exact command you are running (and possibly the board)? Without the command, it is really hard to guess what might go wrong. I guess you specified the source by annotation, but you provided the wrong annotation component reference.

I was using the gui from within kicad.
I have uploaded the kicad project and a screenshot. The gui sometimes crashes kicad when clicking on the proceed button.

Could you also share the exact steps that yield to the error? I just tried the exactly the same command via GUI as you did successfully:

I am just opening kicad , selecting pcb from project, running kikit panelizer and then pcbnew either crashes or gives the error

I uninstalled everything and reinstalled as user and it gives the error message.
I uninstalled and did the pip install as sudo and it installed a lot more stuff was installed and when try to panelize pcbnew crashes

Do I get correctly that you:

• open PcbNew,
• load the board that you want to panelize,
• then invoke the panelization tool,
• select the same board as input,
• and hit panelize?

I open Kicad project manager open project to panelize open pcb from project manager invoke panelization tool select board enter number of rows hit panelize this results in one of two outcomes sometimes PCBNew crashes and window disappears or I get error message Most of the time now since I reinstalled as sudo it just crashes I included Kicad version info and kikit install log in previous post PS. This is the problem. You have to invoke the panelization tool when there is no board loaded (in a stand-alone instance of Pcbnew as adviced in doc). This wasn't a problem before KiCAD 6.0.4, however, with the newest KiCAD it leads to a crash. I have committed a check for this case and a suitable error message to the GUI plugin this morning (0ba8262), so this shouldn't be a problem in the next release.

I tried that suspecting pcm problem but I dont get any plugins in standalone version of PCBNew
Nothing after refreshing plugins or trying to open plugin directory
It works from the command line so will work with that for a while.
If you need some help to test anything let me know
