Segmentation fault when launching AppImage on Debian 12 x64

Description

Once browser is downloaded, extraction returns an error on Debian 12.
Issue seems to occur with multiple browsers. Only Brave is not impacted for now.

Additional Context

Issue seems to occur with every browser but Brave.
xz is correctly installed, unzip too.

Tried running the app with higher privileges, doesn't seem to work.
Also tried creating a custom ~/.local/share/DonutBrowser/binaries/firefox/v141.0.3 folder, but that doesn't seem to allow for binary recognition.

1. Does it affect camoufox (anti-detect tab in profile creation) too?
2. Do you use nightly or stable version of the app and what is it exactly?
3. How long does the download take when you try to download a browser?

1. It does affect camoufox too, but the error in the console is different. Log at the end of that comment.
2. I use the AppImage version of the app, ver 0.8.2
3. Dowload doesn't seem to be too long, but it varies on the browser. Camoufox was definitely longer than Firefox

While I was unable to reproduce the exact error you are having, my best guess is that it happens because I was trying to use a bunch of system tools and they are failing because of version mismatch. I switched to handling as much as possible within rust itself and now the issue should be fixed. Browser installation and launching works on debian 12 arm version (I can't test x64 right now), but should work for you too.

Also, I've disabled automatic self-updates on Linux for now because I can't figure out a good way to distinguish between appimage and direct installations. The more I think about it, the better it seems to just keep it off on Linux permanently and just rely on each distro's package manager for handling updates.

I gave the update a try on two different installs of Debian 12.
First tried launching the latest AppImage, which resulted in a core dump:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I have never been able to use the .deb package on Debian 12 because of the glibc version used.
The following error was obtained on 0.9.0 and previous version 0.8.2:
donutbrowser: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.39' not found (required by donutbrowser)

Bummer. Can you please share:

1. Just so I understand correctly, the previous version of appimage would launch correctly (even though you could only create brave profiles), but the latest one does not at all, right? I know it is very unlikely, but when you tried launching AppImage, were you launching the x64 or aarch64 binary? The latter is for arm system.
2. On your oldest system, can you please share the output of:
   a. ldd --version
   b. fusermount --version
   c. uname -a

Out of curiosity, can you try to run 0.9.1? I reverted the production release to compile the app on ubuntu 22, which should have a compatible version of glibc to debian 12

I will first answer the 2 first questions your forwarded:

1. I confirm that the previous version of AppImage would launch correctly, and version 0.9.0 doesn't launch, resultaing in a segfault.
   I confirm that I was launching the x64 binary.

$ ldd --version

$ fusermount --version 
fusermount3 version: 3.14.0 

$ uname -a

Tried running version 0.9.1 AppImage, and I still face the segfault error:

$ ./Donut.Browser_0.9.1_amd64.AppImage  
Segmentation fault (core dumped) 

.deb is initiating, but stays stuck after displaying following message:

$ donutbrowser   
(donutbrowser:16082): dbind-WARNING **: 09:19:43.543: AT-SPI: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not provided by any .service files

After a long wait, the .deb version executes correctly.
I can also confirm that downloading and extracting Firefox 141.0.3 worked!

Thanks for sharing the debugging info and the progress! Glad that it works now. Now I need to figure out how to reproduce segmentation fault and then fix it.
