Per the 2026-07-23 Apps Team product review, this legacy plain-JS token list is superseded by Sequence's token-list/metadata services. The one remaining gap — POS/Ethereum canonical-bridge token mappings — is resolvable on-contract rather than from a maintained list; AggLayer-side mappings fall away as the AggLayer UI is retired.
This PR adds a deprecation banner to the README to discourage new token PRs in the meantime; no functional change.
