What's new

• Typing modes — the welcome window's Settings tab now lets you choose between three modes instead of a single on/off toggle:
  • Phonetic-first (new — now the default) — your exact phonetic spelling is committed by default, but the full suggestion list is still right there. Reach for a dictionary word whenever you want one — and Lekho remembers the words you deliberately pick. Best of both worlds: predictable output, suggestions on tap.
  • Smart suggestions — dictionary, autocorrect, and emoji pick the best-matching word for you when you press space. (Lekho's previous default behaviour.)
  • Phonetic-only — pure transliteration with no suggestion popup, autocorrect, or emoji (the previous "phonetic-only mode").

New typing mode selection in Settings

Lekho now defaults to Phonetic-first. Prefer the old behaviour? Pick Smart in Settings anytime. Existing phonetic-only users keep their settings automatically.

• Refreshed welcome window — a cleaner, more native look throughout: selectable mode cards in Settings, a redesigned Getting Started guide with an icon header and grouped setup/shortcut cards, clearer clickable tabs, and a polished Avro Layout reference.

What's new

• Phonetic-only mode — new toggle in the welcome window's Settings tab. Disables dictionary suggestions, autocorrect, and emoji candidates so every keystroke maps directly to its phonetic Bengali equivalent. For users who want full control over every word.
• Welcome window keyboard shortcuts — Cmd+W and Cmd+Q now close the window. (Cmd+Q intentionally doesn't terminate the IME — that would interrupt typing across every app.)

Tab now cycles through suggestions (Shift+Tab to cycle backwards), matching the classic Avro behaviour on Windows. Commit with Space/Enter/ click as before.

Install

Download the DMG → open → double-click "Install Lekho.pkg"

macOS may block the installer. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click "Allow Anyway" next to the Lekho message.
