The majority of the people involved are current students or alumni of the EdX Software as a Service online class provided by Dave Patterson and Armando Fox of UC Berkeley.

In the face to face class at UC Berkeley students collaborate on projects with non-profit organizations. Here are some of the results of their work:

In the Berkeley course the non-profit organizations were vetted by Dave, Armando and their staff for those where the organization had some technical need that might be met by Ruby on Rails, could spend time with the students and so forth.

Unfortunately these projects have not yet made it into the online EdX class, so the the online students banded together to run their own unofficial "Agile Projects"
