The Expense Splitting Application is a web-based platform designed to simplify the management of shared expenses among groups such as friends, roommates, or travel companions. The primary objective of this project was to automate the often tedious process of tracking costs, ensuring fair splits, and managing settlements. The system allows users to record expenses & view real-time balances, creating a transparent and stress-free financial environment.
Make sure you are on the main branch where the latest changes are present:
git checkout main
git pull origin main
Install the required packages using npm:
npm install svix
npm install recharts
npm install
Create a .env file in the root directory of the project and add the following variables:

Open two terminals:
Terminal 1: Start the Next.js development server
npm run dev
Terminal 2: Start the Convex backend server
npx convex dev
Open your browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000 to use the application.
