Omni chooses its own main monitor, which makes all apps open by default on extended displays

What happened

Omni doesnt follow the MacOS configuration for Main Monitor, using a custom one also doesnt change the outcome.

Active layout: Niri (Scrolling)

Regression: Yes.

Environment

• OmniWM version: 0.5.7
• macOS version: Version 26.5.2 (Build 25F84)

As you can see in the picture, Omni Config says Monitor (1) is main but default MacOS says its Monitor (2)

Dont know if the new changes of the monitor system where meant to solve this but if they are it did not solve them, apps keep opening on secondary monitor.

I’m working on a fix for this now. In OmniWM, there’s no concept of a main monitor, new apps should always open on the currently active workspace. For example, if Workspace 6 is active on Monitor B, new apps should launch there instead of defaulting to the macOS system defined main monitor. The only exception is if that app has rule that ties it to a specific workspace.

The only exception is if that app has rule that ties it to a specific workspace.

Weird because when Omni is not in use app routing works fine, for example exiting a game reopens related clients on the secondary monitor, first opening of an app opens on secondary monitor, even when raycast or the default MacOS search/app drawer is on the desired monitor/workspace.
