Auto-accept non-breaking schema changes + drop dead ConnectionJob - #1483
Conversation
WalkthroughAdds an organization preference and endpoint for automatic acceptance of non-breaking schema changes. When enabled, eligible changes are applied through Airbyte and logged. Failed applications remain stored and produce failure notifications. The change also removes the schema-change scheduling relation and ChangesSchema Change Auto-Acceptance

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Auto-accepting schema changes can leave three gaps. A failed admin email could stop schema checks for the rest of an organization's connections. An applied change could lose its audit record. A failed auto-accept in the catalog task is reported as complete. Address these before merging. 🚥 Pre-merge checks | ✅ 5✅ Passed checks (5 passed)

other errors handled by its broader catch. Use that result in fetch task’s
notification gate so auto-accept does not suppress admin notification after an
apply failure, and update callers to unpack the revised result.

Migration
0186removesOrgSchemaChange.schedule_job, and migration0187deletesConnectionJobwithout using itsflow_run_id. The base cleanup calledprefect_service.delete_flow_run(job.flow_run_id), but the reviewed head removed that call.A pending legacy run can therefore remain in Prefect after both local rows are removed. That run can still execute the schema-update workflow and update, reset, or resync the connection. Add a data migration before
0186removes the relation, while the organization context is still available, to cancel each referenced remote flow run before deleting the local records. Do not rely on reconciliation; it only removes local rows after the remote run is already absent.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Keep a platform-email failure from stopping schema detection.
If SES raises while sending this new auto-accept alert, detect_schema_changes_for_org exits before it notifies the organization or checks the remaining connections. Catch and log the email failure so the pending-change notification and scan can continue.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Handle the auto-accept error in the catalog task.
If the catalog fetch succeeds but auto-accept fails, this task discards auto_accept_err and records COMPLETED. This entry point also sends no failure alert. Handle the third result explicitly so the task does not present an unsuccessful schema application as an unqualified success.
