WebShield - Web Blocker

Version: 3.2.1 (Alpha)

WebShield is a Chrome extension that allows you to block any website by adding the website URL to a block list. This is an alpha version, and more features will be added in future releases.

Description

WebShield provides a simple and effective way to block unwanted websites, ensuring a distraction-free browsing experience. By adding website URLs to the block list, you can prevent access to those sites while the extension is enabled. The extension also allows you to easily toggle it on or off with a single click.

Installation

Follow these steps to install WebShield:

  1. Download the Project:

    • Download the GitHub project and extract the folder to your desired location.
  2. Open Terminal:

    • Open your terminal and navigate to the path of the extension folder.
      cd "./your extension folder path"
  3. Install Dependencies:

    • Run the following command to install necessary dependencies.
      npm install
  4. Open Chrome Extensions Menu:

    • Open Chrome and navigate to the extensions menu (chrome://extensions).
  5. Enable Developer Mode:

    • Toggle on "Developer mode" located in the top-right corner of the extensions menu.
  6. Load Unpacked Extension:

    • Click on "Load unpacked".
    • Navigate to the folder of the extension and select the dist folder. Important: Do not select the entire folder. Only select the dist folder within ./WebShield-Web Blocker.
  7. Installation Complete:

    • The WebShield extension should now be installed and visible in your browser's toolbar.
