ECE3SAT_PhaseB_OBC prototype

This repository contains software code used for OBC prototype at the end of the year. Our objective is to set up the CAN communication layout, begin software architecture and behaviour implementation.

This code has been written for STM32 Nucleo L432KC.

Prerequisites

You need to have an installed and configured MbedCLI.

Windows

Follow instructions : download and execute the installer. Notice that it includes the GNU Arm Embedded Toolchain.

Don't forget to configure Mbed CLI by setting PATH variables and toolchain selection.

Linux (or Bash on Ubuntu on Windows)

Before installing mbed-cli we need some requirements : python and git.

Install the latest version of mbed-cli :

pip install mbed-cli

Don't forget to configure Mbed CLI by setting PATH variables and toolchain selection. In next parts we used GNU Arm Embedded toolchain (GCC) version 6 that explain the variable GCC_ARM.

Installation

Use mbed new . to create a MBed project with all configurations and dependencies in ECE3SAT_PhaseB_OBC/ repository.

You can now use mbed command to compile these files into a binary which can be flashed on your microcontroller (binary can be found in <project_dir>/BUILD/<target_name>/<compiler_name>/). The compilation command has to be launched with some options ($MC_TARGET is the microcontroller targeted and $COMPILER is the compiler used) :

mbed compile -m $MC_TARGET -t $COMPILER

In our case, we used mbed compile -m NUCLEO_L432KC -t GCC_ARM to deal with NUCLEO_L432KC and with a GCC_ARM compiler (see MbedCLI configuration page to know which parameters you should use)

The final step is to flash the binary on the microcontroller by copying the generated .bin file on on the device through USB connection.
