CHRONUS Instrument Details
This page collects information that will be useful for the implementation of the IBEX control system on CHRONUS.
CHRONUS is an instrument on the RIKEN-RAL Muon Facility at ISIS, on TS1. The CHRONUS web page describes the background to the instrument.
CHRONUS will migrate from the SECI control system to the IBEX control system in MMMMMMMM YYYY.
The equipment listed below is used on CHRONUS. Please add new information (e.g. new items of equipment, new notes, information about drivers, etc. to this table).
Manufacturer | Model | Type | Connection | Driver | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
ISIS | DAE 2 | Detector Electronics | Ethernet | see DAE note | |
ISIS | ??? | ISIS Vacuum System | see Vacuum System note | ||
Pfeiffer | TPG300 | Vacuum Gauge | RS-232 | EPICS | see Vacuum System note |
Kepco | BIT 4886 | I/F card | GPIB, RS-232 | see Kepco note | |
Oxford Instruments | Triton | Dilution Fridge | RS-232 | see Oxford Instruments note | |
Oxford Instruments | Mercury | Temperature Controller | RS-232 | see Oxford Instruments note | |
Oxford Instruments | Cryogenic Equipment | RS-232 | see Oxford Instruments note | ||
LakeShore | 332 | RS-232 | EPICS | see LakeShore note | |
Lakeshore | 372 | Temperature Controller | see Lakeshore note | ||
Cryomagnetics | LM500 | Liquid Cryogen Level Monitor | RS-232 | see Cryomagnetics note |
See multi-detector and single-detector below.
TPG300 support is implemented via #216 and #2063
- Kepco BIT 4886 is an interface card for Kepco bi-polar (BOP) power supplies. The fact that there is a Kepco interface card tends to imply that there is a Kepco power supply in the list of equipment on CHRONUS (but it does not seem to have been listed).
Eurotherms are used to control temperature Orange Cryostat, CCR and Furnace devices.
- Model 332 temperature controller. Model 332 has now been superseded by Model 335.
- Model 372 temperature controller.
- On muon instruments, the Triton fridges have an additional Lakeshore controller (the 372) to allow control and continuous readout of the sample temperature (the OI software doesn’t allow this using the in-built Lakeshore, despite the unit having a dedicated channel for the sample thermometry).
- There are EPICS drivers for a variety of Lakeshore devices.
- Dilution fridge: models to be determined.
- Triton LabVIEW Driver : C:\LabVIEW Modules\Drivers\Triton
- Triton Documentation : C:\LabVIEW Modules\Drivers\Triton\Documentation
- See also #2915
- Blue Cryostat: models to be determined.
- LM500 model appears to have been superseded by Model LM-510 Liquid Cryogen Monitor. Spec sheet for the LM500 is still available. See also spec sheets and manual on ICPDiscussions.
Document information about CHRONUS SECI configs here.
Configuration Name | Sub-Configurations | Last Accessed | Required |
---|---|---|---|
CHRONUS_place_holder1.conf | - | dd/mm/yyyy | - |
CHRONUS_place_holder2.conf | - | dd/mm/yyyy | - |
Similarly, Document information about CHRONUS SECI Genie scripts here.
CHRONUS has the following specialist panels:
- ARGUS zero field controller
- CHRONUS Danfysik
- MUON Zero field controller (magnetselected.vi)
The equipment listed below is referenced in SECI config files on CHRONUS . It is highly likely that the config files are no longer relevant (they are old, dating from 2011 or 2012), therefore, the references are to devices that are obsolete or simply not used on CHRONUS .
Manufacturer | Model | Type | Connection | Driver | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
GALIL | DMC2280 | Motion Controller | Ethernet | EPICS | |
McLennan | PM600 | Motion Controller | RS-232 | EPICS | see McLennan note |
??? | 4-blade jaws | see Jaws note |
Support for McLennan devices is well established (see #1099 and #1100 and subsequent tickets.
Provide information about CHRONUS jaws.
