xDrip4iO5 suddenly stops giving readings

There are many reasons why the app my stop giving readings, not all of them are crashes

iOS decides remove the app from memory

This is the most frequent reason, and sometimes quite difficult to solve.

I've experienced that it may help to :

  • remove other apps
  • make sure there's enough memory free on your phone
  • force close other apps

I recently (jan 2021) upgraded from iPhone SE 2016 to iPhone SE 2020. The iPhone SE 2016 had become unusable after upgrade to iOS 14. The app was too unstable. On the new iPhone, the app is very stable

real crashes due to software bugs.

They do happen and if it happens you should have a message from iOS, asking to send crash logs. Please do. I do try to process them, they contain interesting information. Actually release 4.5.17 was quite an important fix related to those crashes.

Issue report ?

The app has an option to send an issue report. In both cases described above, this doesn't help. If iOS decides to kill the app, I will not see this in the issue report, and if I would, I would not be able to help. Also crashes due to software bugs are not visible in the issue report.

other reasons

There could off course be other reasons, maybe the battery of your transmitter is low. Maybe there are other functional errors that cause not being able to reconnect (Libre 2 is not yet stable for instance). Those kind of errors I should be able to see in the issue report, however not always easy to solve
