  1. Introduce "smart" mappings of [S]Tab and CR 

    With this one can use <Tab> and <S-Tab> to navigate the menu,
and <CR> to select an entry.
All the new mappings should only apply when appropriate, and
otherwise fall back to the previous behavior (in the case of <CR>
this may be to trigger the autosub).
