Buddy Docs

A minimalistic document editor, which anyone can use. For the Buddy ecosystem, and is meant for students. Currently in beta.

"The school Chromebook can't even handle Google Docs." - me

Also another place for me to test my coding.

Features (which the preview version does not have)

  • Deadlines: Set deadlines for your documents, and get reminders when they are due.
  • Calendar: Keep track of deadlines with a calendar view.
  • Archive: Archive documents you don't need anymore, but want to keep just in case.
  • Themes: Make it how you want it to look like, though no custom themes.
  • Document Types: ACTUALLY have different document types, unlike the previous version.
  • Buddy Ecosystem: Integrates with other Buddy apps, like Buddy Music and other compatible apps.
  • Integration with CompactB (AI): Get summerizations, plan stuff, and chat. (somewhat added)
  • Study Tools: Get tools like these
    • Study Pages (Coming soon)
    • Writing Buddy (Coming soon, uses AI)
    • Knowledge Buddy (Coming soon, uses AI)

Languages used

  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I'm not gonna learn React or any other frameworks for this, since they are just gonna bloat the project.

Info for users

Heya, this web app WILL take time to make, you can try it out, but I don't recommend switching to it yet. :D

Update 7th August 2025: The remake is very close to being made, so that the remake will be the main version of Buddy Docs.

Info for programmers/coders/whatever (or people who want to Contribute)

If there's a "dev" branch, write in that instead of "main".

I typically use "main" as the GitHub Pages, and "dev" for actual coding. I will fix my naming soon okay? Thanks-

Folder structure

  • index.html: the main page of the app. (main page)
  • editor.html: the main document editor.
  • slides.html: the presentation/slides editor.
  • gallery.html: the image gallery collector.
  • calendar.html: the calendar view for deadlines.
  • settings.html: the settings page.
