Here we use Expected Improvement onboard an AUV to find large Salinity gradients in River plumes. This was tested in the Trondheims Fjord in June 2023.

gradient_0 Simulation from Sinmod ocean model developed by SINTEF. The red Areas show where the Salinity changes are large, this is where we want to sample.
