Ahri’s Adventure

I. Graphics system

  1. Screen scrolling:
    1. Scrolls only to the right.
    2. Background moves slowly with the character. (Imitates a far away background).
    3. Foreground – mario-like.
    4. A small screen with the usable spells.
  2. Reward drops: rewards drop down from the blocks when they are destroyed, they stay static to be picked up, except point rewards.
  3. Upon hitting either X50k or X100K points (x>0) (upon hitting X100k points you gain the X50k point milestone as well) the random reward you gain is instant (no drop animation, spell is unlocked instantly, life is added instantly).
  4. Enemies travel both right and left or stay static.
  5. Animations will be GIF-typed.
  6. Game screen will be fullscreen mode (windowed screen will not be allowed), game will adapt with aspect ratio and the screen view will either extend or retract depending on the resolution.
  7. Game screen will have: Score, Lives, Health, Menu button (pauses the game), Spell Action Bar.

II. Gameplay systems.

  1. Chest/Box rewards after each level (for non-boss levels).
  2. At X number of points – powerup (drops from the sky?) (ex. 50K – powerup, 100k - 1UP)
  3. UDLR(Arrows) – movement, space – jump
  4. Enemies have HP.
    1. Deals 3 damage to enemies after falling on top of them.
    2. Basic attack(Q) – one push, one projectile, does 1 damage, goes in a straight line.
  5. Spells as rewards from chests and powerups
    1. First type of reward – Orb of Deception: Replaces your basic attack (1 time only) with an orb that shoots forward (deals 4 damage to every enemy hit) which travels X units and returns to Ahri, dealing the same damage in both directions.
    2. Second type of reward – Fox-Fire: Allows you to use your W key, surrounds the character with 3 orbs of fire, each dealing 3 damage to the nearest enemy in X units (has a shooting animation) and decreasing your stacks of the spell (stacks displayed on screen), after all 3 stacks disappear, one time use.
    3. Third type of reward – Charm: Allows you to use your E key, shoots a projectile forward, which charms (immobilizes for X second) the first enemy hit in a range of X units and deals 1 damage to them, one time use only.
    4. Fourth type of reward – Spirit Rush: Allows you to use your R key, while holding the R key, upon using left or right arrow you dash X units, dealing 5 damage to all enemies you pass through, if you dont pass through enemies, deals 5 damage to the closest enemy in X units, has 3 charges, one time use per charge.
    5. Spells have a maximum stack capacity of 2 stacks per spell (this means you can get 2 power ups of the same type, you can use them consecutively but not at the same time(spell button will be locked until the effect ends)), further acquirement of the same spells will result in nothing.
  6. Projectile speed > character speed
  7. Block types
    1. normal destructible blocks (only destroyed if Ahri hits them with a jump from the bottom side)
    2. indestructible blocks (characters can only walk on them, cant be destroyed by any means)
    3. chest reward blocks (only destroyed if Ahri hits them with a jump from the bottom side), grant a random reward from the following
      1. Q spell enhancement (38% drop chance)
      2. W spell reward (28% drop chance)
      3. E spell reward (20% drop chance)
      4. R spell reward (7% drop chance)
      5. 1UP (5% drop chance)
      6. 25000 points (2% drop chance)
  8. Not every level will have a boss
  9. On each level you start without rewards (cant keep rewards from past levels except special rewards gained at the end of non-boss levels (those rewards have a bigger timer before disappearing), can keep lives), (you have X second to use your reward before it disappears), (unlocks all spells for boss fights for one time use only, spells last until the boss dies (you retain none on the next level)
  10. Unique non-boss level rewards work on the same system as 50k point rewards (can grant only spell chances)
    1. Q spell enhancement (40% drop chance)
    2. W spell reward (30% drop chance)
    3. E spell reward (22% drop chance)
    4. R spell reward (8% drop chance)
  11. Enemy types:
    1. Minions (3 hit points), can be jumped on, separated into 3 types:
      1. Melee minions - have only melee attacks, 1 attack every second while Ahri is in range, each attack deals 1 damage (common)
      2. Ranged minions - have only ranged attacks, 1 shot per 2 seconds (each shot deals 1 damage), same travel pattern as Ahri's, slower projectile travel speed (less common)
      3. Cannon minions - have only ranged attacks, 1 shot per 1.5 seconds, shots have an arc-like travel pattern, shots deal 2 damage, faster projectile speed than ranged minion's (rare) --
  12. Ahri's stats: Ahri starts with 0 points, 3 lives, no available spells, each life has 3 health.
    1. Health cannot be replenished, only lives can be gained.
    2. Upon losing 3 health 1 life is subtracted from your total and Ahri gains an X second invulnerability (she can still use normal attacks but cannot use spells).
  13. Level switching will be with teleportation.
  14. Game will have a save feature (saves will be made at the start of every new level, for every new save the old will be rewritten).

III. Encoding

  1. The world will be made with JSONs.

IV. Menu screen

  1. Exit game button
    1. Exits the game completely.
  2. Restart game button
    1. Restarts the game (game starts from level 1).
    2. All your stats are refreshed to the starting amounts.
  3. Restart level button
    1. Restarts the level (game starts from the first screen of the current level).
    2. Game starts at the last save, therefore you don't keep your stats, rather you start with what you had in the beginning of the current level.
  4. System sound effects
    1. Allows control of the sound effects of the game.
  5. Music sound
    1. Allow control of the music of the game.
    2. Music is read from a folder, that can be modified by the user to their liking.
  6. Key binding for the spells
    1. Can change the keys of the spells, attacks, jumps.
