Description

Wizard's lawset while good for LRP and NRP, doesn't serve perfectly force MRP-HRP type servers as it is missing some common laws. I wish to introduce a more encompassing lawset which while it's still a bit underwork, should be fuller and more encompassing for what Einstein-Engines is trying to do.

At the same time I have gone through some other entries in SpaceLaw category and added colouring to Controlled and Restricted items, while also adding further explanation of law categorization.

Documentation on the space law is here.

TODO

  • Make SL more readable

Merge this only after #1427, as it relies on the tables

I apologize for taking awhile to get to reviewing this. So I do actually like the main page for Space Law in general, however I am a bit less keen on the inconsistency of how Controlled Substances, Restricted Gear, and Restricted Weapons are written.

The Law Book page is great, my only issue with it is that it should not explicitly call out specific metagame factions with 4-05 and 2-05. 4-05 should be written instead as, "Enemy Combatant", with a description of, "To be confirmed without a shadow of a doubt to have active membership in an organization that is in violent opposition to the Corporation, or to the Biesel Republic. They must also have been engaged in violent acts on behalf of said organization.". 4-05 can be clarified essentially as, "If you are being shot at by a terrorist armed with tacsuits and lethal weaponry, you are fully legally justified in killing them without trial." 2-05 can be written similarly, except written as, "To act on behalf of an organization that is criminally opposed to the Corporation, or to the Biesel Republic. Law 4-05 applies instead should the individual be comitting acts of violence on behalf of said organization."

For example, the Guidebook article tied to the Security Loadout weapons is written mostly from an "In-Universe" perspective.

By contrast, the page for "Restricted Weapons" lacks a lot of clarification. It also calls out "Syndicate Weapons" as a restricted category, which is something that is outright impossible to quantify. A problem with this is that it makes the assumption that "If the players have meta knowledge of this item being present in the syndicate uplink, then it is a syndicate item". This page should not in any way reference the existence of "Syndicate Weapons", and should instead simply reference the fact that the only people who are even allowed to have weapons in the first place are Security, Command, Bartender(With specific limitations), and Salvage(When not on the station). It is also inconsistent with the fact that Salvage can spend their mining points on "Civilian Grade" firearms(Which they then have to ask security to obtain ammo for).
image

This page here has similar issues to the above. It should not in any way reference the existence of "Syndicate X Item". Rather it should instead clarify broader categories of items such as Ammunition, Body Armor, Tacsuits, Explosive Devices, Terrorist Paraphernalia(Items that literally say Syndicate in the name or description), and so on.
image

The Controlled Substances page realistically should not declare specific drugs at all. Rather it should clarify broad categories of drugs and their limitations on possession of. Of particular note is the mention of Space Drugs, which are something that appear in Epistemics Loadouts, as they're used by members of the Epistemics Cult as part of their rituals/experiments.

I'll look into the 2-05 and 4-05 laws, but I have not changed what items are restricted, that part is as of now, unchanged. (only added colors for the bracketed areas)

Oh lol, I didn't realize that it was Wizden's contraband lists. Yea I just found a PR that removed them after they added that stupid, "THIS IS A SYNDICATE ITEM, THIS PERSON IS VALID. KILL THEM" redtext to a shitload of items. space-wizards/space-station-14#30937
