[Feature Request] Edit nvidia DSR/DLDSR smoothness #219
Comments
lol, "WeirdDisplayName". I could add this, but DSR seems to be a point of contention. In many cases people think that DSR is broken because Special K sometimes forces Borderless Fullscreen or runs into problems with third-party software and Fullscreen Exclusive. I need to also add some kind of education to inform users that DSR may be used by setting the > display native resolution from SK's Display menu w/o Fullscreen Exclusive. I doubt a tooltip would cover that. I will give this some thought. I am open to suggestions on how to convey that DSR may be used in Borderless Fullscreen games also if you have any, if not don't worry. |
I am not sure I understand what the issue with users is I find SK to be pretty seamless with DSR, I just change resolution from the display tab, and it just works. Especially since we have fake fullscreen (even though most users know they should just always use borderless anyway) I find DSR without SK to be more "broken", considering it just doesn't work in borderless unless you change your desktop resolution Unless I am missing something and DSR is not working correctly with some SK settings ? Only issue I have is in some games I need to override the resolution by clicking on it (when enabling DSR at runtime in display tab), otherwise the window is smaller with black borders. Well this is another issue (and probably not related to DSR but changing display resolution in general), and is fixed by restarting the game in any case |
Please let us change DSR/DLDSR smoothness in the GUI and save it for each game ini
Most users would use 80-100% smoothness for DLDSR, but use 0% smoothness for DSR 4x.
Sadly, nvidia doesn't let you have a different smoothness value per "DSR factor"
I have a few games where I use DSR 4x, and a few others where I use DLDSR 2.25x
I need to change the smoothness in nvidia app/NVCP each time I switch between them, otherwise it's either "deep fried sharp" or blurry
Apparently this is saved in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nvlddmkm\State\DisplayDatabase\*WeirdDisplayName*\SmoothScalingData
I guess you'd need to edit all monitor in DisplayDatabase, or a fancy way to filter only the currently used display
I found some infos there https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/6i6u2i/custom_nvidia_dsr_resolution_in_5_easy_steps/
