Alan is having to sell his Mayflower as he no longer has the time, nor good health, to work on it anymore. It is definitely a project! He describes it…

Good chassis. Engine free and has compression. But no time to get running.

Sills & some floor rotten. Included are 3 photos, Lee has around 20 if you are interested.

Californian’s friend’s Mayflower

Update: The asking price is curently $7,500 OBO. More details and photos available either from Rob (website editor) or from Frank directly.

Frank has contacted us from California in the USA, on behalf of a friend who wants to sell his Mayflower:

The car is an early 1950s model, which he is having to sell as he is about to spend his retirement (or at least 10 years) touring the USA in his motorhome.

As it is a Californian car, it has zero rust; truly zero!

It has been partially “hot-rodded”, but can be returned to standard.

It is fitted with a Mitsubishi 4-cylinder engine and transmission.

The rear axle is a 2-speed Volvo unit – again it is prepared to bolt right up to the standard springs and mounting points; it requires nothing more than just unbolting and bolting the old one back in.

Front suspension has been 100% bead-blasted and powder-coated black.

All chrome has been completely re-done, and the body was stripped and is in grey primer ready for colour coat.

It currently sits on a rolling bed for ease of moving; if someone was interested, it could be put on full suspension to get it moving.

1953 Mayflower for sale

£5,695

Registration: NFJ 451

Sale due to need to re-build garage and therefore nowhere to store car, as well as a need to reduce collection.

Details from eBay listing:

“Remarkable condition for the year with straight and shiny bodywork. Lots of MOTs with mileage of around 13,000 but cannot warranty it. Runs smoothly with 3 speed all synchro box. New headlining and front carpet. New radial tyres give great ride. New exhaust. No road tax required. I am reducing my collection of classic cars as I am getting on in years. Please phone my mobile on 07880 733164 if you wish to view. Thanks.”

Regretful sale of rare very early 1951 series one Mayflower

Mayflower project for sale

From the seller:

“Triumph Mayflower/Herald project for sale. Due to ill health I’m having to sell my Mayflower project. It’s an early, small rear window model from 1950. The car is complete BUT the engine has been removed having seized. I intended to replace it with a good 1200 herald engine. This has been done by a couple of club members and it is a very satisfactory conversion. The car will need new sills and wing bottoms fitting, which are supplied. It has a very good underside – no holes. It will need some restoring and bits re-fitting and head lining etc. It seems to have had recent brake work as there are many new bits. I would like around £650 for the car and £250 for the herald engine. Please see attached photo.”
