One hope, one quest;
To bring 64-bit goodness to the land of buffers.
Created a second branch in order to avoid accidentally messing with the upstream PR when this is merged but I figure that if we're maintaining a fork we might as well put it in master. Having a branch for the PR also makes sense because not all of our changes need to go upstream (eg doc changes, CI).
