Mobs and Animals in Appalachia

Appalachia adds serval enzities to the game. This page explains bahaviour and properties of Appalachian Mobs.

Black Bear

The Black Bear is very simmilar to the Vanilla Polar Bear. TODO: Add more information here.

Spawning

The Black Bear spawns in Blue Ridge, Smoky and Adirondack biomes.

Drops and Usage

The Black Bear drops 0-2 Raw Bear which can be cooked in a furnace. If killed by fire, it will drop Cooked Bear instead if Raw Bear. Each level of Looting has a 50% chance to increase the amount of Raw Bear dropped by one.

Fire Fly

The Fire Fly is a small bug that flies and flashes on occasion. It has 5 hearts, looks like a small vanilla bug (Endermite, Silverfish) and has a maximum health of 5 (2.5 hearts).

Spawning

The Fire Fly spawns in Smoky Forest, Adirondack Forest, Blue Ridge Forest, Blue Ridge Bog, Smoky Bog and Adirondack Bog Biomes, if the light level is 7 or bellow, and the block bellow is Material.Dirt or Matarial.Ground. The Block they spawn on will determine their color. Each Fire Fly will take damage if the light level is 10 or above.

Behavior

The Fire Fly will most likely fly in unpredictable patterns, which makes them difficult to hurt or catch. It will also start fleeing if the player is very close (with about normal speed) or it got hurt (very fast).

Drops and Usage

The Fire Fly drops Glowstone if killed by any scource while flashing. Each level of looting has a 50% chance to increase the amount of Glowstone dropped by 1. TODO: In future, the Fire Fly will also be catchable in a jar, which will make a good looking and variable light scource.

Trivia

This mob has a number of easter eggs. Try to name them after contributers!
