This update adds a complete light/dark theme toggle for the site frontend, with persistent user preference and clear install/verification docs.
Changes Included-:
Added wordpress/theme-mode-toggle.php
Injects global CSS variables for light and dark modes.
Adds a floating toggle button (Night mode / Day mode) in the bottom-right corner.
Applies theme state using data-theme on the root element.
Persists selected mode in localStorage.
Falls back to system preference (prefers-color-scheme) when no saved preference exists.
Includes accessibility attributes (aria-pressed, aria-label) and responsive behavior for mobile.
Updated wordpress/README.md
Added Option C: Theme Day/Night Toggle
Documented installation via MU-plugin or functions.php
Added verification checklist for local testing
Why-:
The site had no built-in day/night mode option. This change introduces a lightweight, WordPress-friendly toggle without requiring theme rewrites or extra dependencies.
How to Verify-:
Copy wordpress/theme-mode-toggle.php to wp-content/mu-plugins/theme-mode-toggle.php on a local WP install.
Hard refresh the frontend.
Confirm toggle appears bottom-right.
Switch to Night mode and verify dark theme is applied.
Reload and confirm preference persists.
Switch back to Day mode and verify light theme is restored.
Notes
Frontend-only behavior (is_admin() guarded).
No database schema or API changes.
Designed to be safe for immediate local validation before push.
