Changelog

1.14

These version numbers are so arbitrary; I should have just done integer release numbers back when I started 😭

Added
  • The latest log file is now named latest.log
  • Option to delete stored entries for nonexistent music files (that you might have deleted)
Changed
  • Playlist artwork is no longer copied to Android
  • Playlists are now only archived when there's been a change in contents
  • Updated dependencies in requirements.txt
Fixed
  • Fixed several bugs
  • Clarified error messages

1.13.1

Some useful bug fixes that I probably should have committed before I plugged this on Reddit...

Added
  • Ability to store past playlist versions (see README)
Fixed
  • Crash when playlist cover art was missing.
  • Changed Android playlist structure to work with S2 music app.

1.13

So much work just to hear some trashy rapper say "I be high off marijuana"...

Added
  • Ability to specify songs in custom_playlists.json to download from YouTube (if you want a song that isn't on Spotify)
  • Can load settings from file user_settings.json
  • Spotify local files found in playlists are downloaded from YouTube based on their title
Changed
  • Album artwork is renamed to folder.jpg when copied to Android so as not to clutter up your photos

1.12

I really shouldn't be incrementing the version number for each change, but it's too late to stop now!

Added
  • Custom file transfer algorithm optimized for Speed and Efficiency (can now copy files to a connected Android phone without wasting time overwriting ones already there)

1.11

Dependencies move at the speed of sound, and I figured I'd better get caught up.

Changed
  • Updated dependencies to more recent versions
  • Revamped logging and the whole Console Experience

1.10

I switched to Android, so the focus is gonna be changing a bit! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Added
  • Playlist cover artwork is downloaded from Spotify
  • Added requirements.txt
Changed
  • Fixed some problems where it assumed you were using iTunes
  • m3u files now use relative filepaths
  • Fixed some problems with file path lengths

1.9

Spending four hours squashing these bugs is probably better than spending four hours downloading the same things over and over again when it crashes.

Added
  • Songs downloaded from YouTube now get ID3 tags (title, artist, etc).
Changed
  • Tracks are now cached as soon as they're downloaded, which makes the program much more crash-resistant.
  • Playlist files are now updated as the songs are added to iTunes, which makes the program much more crash-resistant and accurate.

1.8

Something went wrong along the way... but now it should be fixed!

Changed
  • Updated to the latest version of deemix
  • A ton of bug fixes, mostly involving edge cases and Youtube downloads

1.7

youtube-dl integration was surprisingly simple to add. Don't mind if I do!

Added
  • Now downloads tracks not found on deezer from YouTube. It gets the first result for the search string [track name] + [track artist] + "lyrics"—hopefully that's what you want!

1.6

I feel like this is finally reaching my original vision and it's something I can be proud of. Next stop, GUI!

I've decided that the 1.x branch will remain terminal-only. I'll try to backport features in the 2.x branch to 1.x so that, if you prefer using a terminal instead of the GUI, you can do so.

Added
  • Ability to compare iTunes and cached versions of playlists to re-sync if a user modifies it.
  • Dedicated changelog.
  • Ability to track user-specified playlists, set in custom_playlists.json.
  • Logging (logs folder, new log each run).
  • Option to not use iTunes.
  • Ability to create m3u playlist files.

1.5

What's that? We're jumping 5 whole versions? Yep, that's just how cool we are.

Added
  • Now reads user-written Spotify and deezer credentials from account_info.json.
Changed
  • Refactored the entire program to be more object-oriented and (hopefully) easier to read and develop.

1.0

Rise, my creation! Go forth and conquer!

Featuring
  • Hardcoded to use my dev Spotify account
  • Downloads all of your playlists, and only your playlists
  • No bugs that I can find...?
