I am not a dev, but those hundreds of bugs looks crazy

As you may not know -pvs studio is free for open source (https://pvs-studio.com/en/order/open-source-license/ static analysis tool

Maybe its nice idea to try to request it?

Guess it will help to find more bugs...?

The free license does not apply to the following types of projects:

2. developed by organizations (financing and/or hiring developers)

I would say clang-tidy first, working though agreed upon items in the list: https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/list.html

Note that we do not do regular refactors now. Changes that serve improving stability can be considered. All refactors that break VS6 compatibility we cannot do until we are ok with breaking compatibility.

Focus static analysis on errors only.
