ACP's URI rules were SHOULD-level, didn't say which fetches may be automatic, had no redirect rule, and implicitly allowed
file:icons inside the root set. MCP 2026-07-28 has MUSTs for icons.On v2 security (stable and draft) and the
Icon.srcRust/schema doc, adopting MCP's rules:srcis the only URI a Client may fetch without user action.https:anddata:(other schemes, includingfile:, are rejected), no credentials, no scheme- or origin-changing redirects, checks on every redirect hop, and PNG/JPEG support for Clients that display icons.file:root-set bullet now excludes icons.v2 only.
