About Me

Machine Learning Engineer currently working with the literature service team at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in Cambridge, UK. I have practical research experience through internships at the Idiap Research Institute in Martigny, Switzerland under the supervision of Phil Garner, and at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), a public research university located in Lausanne, in Switzerland, where I worked under the supervision of Prof. Martin Jaggi and Dr. Mary-Anne Hartley in the MLO | iGH lab.

Academic Background I hold a Master's degree in Machine Intelligence from the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS-AMMI) in Senegal, a program sponsored by Meta and Google, where I was selected as one of 40 students from over 7,000 applicants across Africa. My academic background also includes a degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Lagos in Nigeria

Research interests: My research interests lie at the intersection of Machine Intelligence and Biomedical Engineering, focusing on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in healthcare, particularly in low-resource settings. I am particularly interested in applications of large language models, speech and audio processing for disease diagnosis and rehabilitation therapy, and medical image analysis utilizing advanced computer vision methods

Other Interesting things/Fun facts about me:

  • I have a love for languages, so I know a few words/phrases in many languages. Saying hello or thanks to someone in their language always steals a smile and I love doing that. I can handle a basic conversation in French from grasping a few words during my stay in Senegal and Switzerland.
  • In my spare time, i write articles, Read my articles on Medium, and participating in competitive hackathons. Find profile Here: Zindi
  • I'm also a lover of all things health and wellness, so I incorporate atleast 30 mins of yoga and/or other exercises atleast 5 times in a week.
  • I also practice Martial arts for its mental and physical benefits. I find its a great way to challenge my brain outside work.
  • I love long walks and hikes, appreciating the serenity and beauty of nature.
