feat(Paginator): Fix the default "1 – 10 of 100" syntax #34021

Closed

Description

@hb20007

Feature Description

By default, Paginator shows text like "1 – 10 of 100". The space around the en-dash is incorrect syntax. There is no style guide that uses that. Even British style guides, e.g., New Hart's Rules: The Oxford Style Guide, which use spaces around en-dashes in some situations, don't use it for ranges.

The correct text should be "1–10 of 100".

Use Case

While this can be replaced through MatPaginatorIntl, the default English label should also be correct for projects that do not need i18n. I know this is a "breaking change" as it might break screenshot and text-based tests, but it can be done for a major release.

    Closing since addressing this will involve updating thousands of tests internally and is not worth the churn. There's a way to customize this already through MatPaginatorIntl.
