fix: ensure metric_macro expands templates

SUMMARY

Make sure {{ metric(...) }} is able to expand templates, so that this works (pseudocode):

a = "{{ current_user_id() }}"  # 42
b = "{{ metric('a') }}"

{{ metric('b') }} => renders "42"
