This repository contains the code, and documentation for a master's thesis project that evaluates the economic viability of heavy-duty battery electric trucks (BETs) in Sweden. Sadly, it does not contain the original data used in the project due to confidentiality, only the aggregate.
This project is a tailored Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) model for evaluating the lifetime costs of Heavy-Duty Battery Electric Trucks in Sweden. Incorporating:
- Capital and operational expenditures
- Charging infrastructure costs
- Residual values of vehicles and batteries
The work was conducted in collaboration with the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI).
- Monte Carlo simulations for realistic driving variability
- TCO calculations for four different vehicle classes
- Parameters to reflect Swedish market conditions, that can be adjusted to fit other scenarios
- Comparative analysis against conventional diesel trucks
To run the model:
- Clone the repository.
- Install required dependencies (found in
requirements.txt). - Run the main file to use the GUI.
- Use the csv saving function to get csv entries of the simulations.
- Analyse as you see fit. If needed
- Adjust vehicle classes in
montecarlo.py, make sure to use type 1-4 for BET and 5-8 for Diesel.
This project is part of an academic thesis and provided for educational and research purposes. Feel free to use it however you like, or to copy the tco logic to your own project.
