Travel Information and Getting to Campus

The event venue is located on the 2nd floor of Searle Chemical Laboratory, right off of Ellis Avenue, and right off the UChicago Main Quad on the other side. The address is 5735 S Ellis Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637.

It may be easiest to take a rideshare to the event, though you may also choose to take the Red Line to the 55 bus ($2.25 for a one-way trip) to the 55th St and Ellis intersection, then walk south towards campus/the venue.

If you are staying in the Hyde Park Hyatt, the 172 bus will take you right to the venue ($2.25 for a one way trip).

Driving

You can also park on Ellis near the venue itself, south of 57th St. There is a ParkChicago app you can download to pay for parking that will be listed on the signs near the venue (parking is also potentially free within certain hours).

There is also a (paid, I'm pretty sure) parking lot at 5501 S Ellis Ave, Chicago, IL 60637. Park there and walk south down Ellis. The center will be around a 5-6 minute walk from the garage, and you'll pass the site of the first-ever nuclear reaction on your left on the way!

Lodging

The closest hotels are the Hyde Park Hyatt and the Sophy Hotel. We've also had individuals stay at AirBnbs in the area. You may wish to find an AirBnb in Hyde Park proper (north/east of the venue) for ease of getting around.

Getting around

I generally trust the Google Maps app as a relatively sure way of taking public transit around, but again, since it's cold, it might be easier to do a rideshare to go where you need to go.
