System periodically freezes

Vitals uses asynchronous file reading to help prevent your system from lagging on every refresh. Occasionally reports come in where a system will pause at the same rate as the "seconds between updates" interval.

There are two solutions that have worked for others, and may work for you too.

  1. Try increasing the "seconds between updates" value under preferences. When this value is set too low, it can sometimes cause a backup due to the previous polling not having finished yet.

  2. A very small percentage of hardware appears to not like regular polling to the "files" in the /proc or /sys folders. The combination of the hardware and/or kernel will cause the system to pause while reading values. You can go to Vitals preferences and try turning off each sensor type one by one, until the problem disappears.

Unfortunately, I do not have access to hardware that exhibits this behavior, and am unable to provide a fix. This issue will require community support. Are you the one who can help?
