irssi puts important includes in $(DESTDIR)/$(pkgincludedir), which is (for example) /usr/local/include/irssi It is also necessary to -I src and src/core directories, otherwise inclusion of "window-items.h" will fail. While there, check for how the abovementioned file includes right away.
