Before: the app could only be built as one universal APK. Its ID was
com.example.local_llm, which Google Play rejects, it targeted Android 15, and it had no terms, privacy policy or way to report AI answers.After: one codebase builds three versions (
github,fdroid,play), and the debug builds of all three install side by side for testing. The app ID is nowio.github.dineshsoudagar.pocketllmand it targets Android 16. On first launch, users accept the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, which can also be opened from About. Every AI answer has a report button.How:
BuildConfig.DISTRIBUTION_CHANNEL. Debug variants get their own app ID and label (Variant API).assets/legal/. They read the developer's name, address, email and date fromres/values/legal_contact.xml. Release builds fail while those values are still TODO.docs/store/PLAY_CONSOLE.mdhas the Play Console checklist (Data safety answers, foreground service justifications, content rating).docs/legal/has the legal README and an Impressum template.Note: the
fdroidflavor still includes ML Kit until the follow-upfdroid-buildbranch replaces it.
