     <p><b>Personal</b>: I came in the United States as a Vietnamese refugee (HO program) when I was 11. At that age, I was old enough to remember and preserve the Vietnamese culture and language, yet still young enough to embrace and absorb the American way of life. Initially I was in Hawaii and relocated to Pennsylvania, where I grew up. I was the first to attend Penn State, which then became the go-to choice for my younger cousins, resulting in some 15 Nittany Lions among us. I met my wife on a Southwest flight. We have three children, all were born while I was an assistant prof. in Nebraska.</p>
