To ensure publicized ISOs are generally usable and of good quality, we QA them using the following process.
Verify:
- Sources lists are valid and point to the correct repositories
- stable, no daily
- AppCenter
- OS patches
-
bionic
in Ubuntu repos
- Default wallpaper is correct 📷
- Live session, installer, and installed OS work correctly with loDPI
- Live session, installer, and installed OS work correctly with HiDPI
- Wi-Fi works on as many device models as possible (Intel Wi-Fi, Broadcom, etc.)*
- Boot and install with UEFI
- Boot and install with legacy BIOS
- Boot and install with secure boot off
- Boot and install with secure boot on
- Install and boot into installation with encryption
- Install and boot into installation without encryption
These are known issues with ISOs and/or the current installer.
- Some Broadcom devices will not have Wi-Fi in the live session until the "Install third-party software" box is checked. This is because the drivers are proprietary.
- Choosing a non-Latin language in the installer for "Try elementary OS" means you will not get a Latin keyboard layout in the live session, which can be problematic for typing things like usernames or Wi-Fi passwords. You can add a Latin layout in System Settings → Keyboard. This is a known issue with Ubiquity since 18.04.
