This «Freie Software Freies Wissen» Live Stick release is based on Debian 11 „bullseye“ (+ backports and 3rd-party repositories) and contains a variety of free open source software (and some few non-free tools). This image is meant for writing onto an USB pen drive with storage of at least 16 GB, better 32 GB.
As this needs to be written as is, we recommend the software Etcher if you happen to use 🪟 windows or 🍎 apple, block map tool if you are running linux and prefer a command-line alternative. With this, you could also directly write to an USB drive without download by carefully executing bmaptool copy [Image URL] [Block device] as root.

The sticks currently boot in German by default. If you press e in the boot menu to edit and remove the locales=de_DE.UTF-8 parameter, it will boot in English. You can also change the keyboard-layouts=de parameter to set a different keyboard layout. We'll be adding a way to choose the language on boot-up more easily.

This contains 3 gigabytes more software (LaTeX, scientific tools) than the schoolstick edition and is configured a bit more towards academic use.
