- New workshop/09b-preview-with-staged-mode.md teaches staged: true for previewing safe outputs during iterative prompt editing, filling a gap identified from gh-aw LLMs.txt and the staged-mode reference doc. - Links the node into the curriculum after Step 9 and updates 09's Next link. - Captures research focus, sources, and rationale in an XML comment block at the bottom of the new node file. README.mdResearch focus
Staged mode (
staged: true) for previewing safe outputs before they execute, applied to the iterative prompt-editing workflow learners already practice in Step 9.Gap identified
Cross-referencing the
github/gh-awLLMs.txt agent-prompt index against the safe-outputs and staged-mode reference docs showed a documented, current gh-aw capability with zero coverage anywhere in this workshop. Learners repeatedly iterate on prompts that trigger realcreate-issue/add-commentsafe-output writes (Steps 7, 9, and 14b) with no way to preview a change before it creates a real GitHub resource — this makes rapid iteration noisy (test issues pile up) and harder to compare across prompt versions. What was filled
Added a new node, Preview Safe Outputs Before They Run: Staged Mode, placed immediately after Step 9 (the edit/debug/optimize loop) since it directly extends that iteration workflow. It walks learners through:
staged: trueglobally insafe-outputs:staged: trueto a single output typeFiles updated
