Optimism Course at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro

Proposal for an Extension Course about Optimism, Governance and Retro Funding in Portuguese to be offered by the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in partnertship with professors from the Fluminense Federal University, Rio de Janeiro Rural Federal University and the recently created Blockchain Innovation Hub. This is a 8-session extension course (1 session a week, each session will have a 1.5 hour class or 90 min) with a total of 12 hours classes.

Course topics

  1. Blockchain concepts: decentralization, transparency, immutability, traceability, privacy. L1s and L2s
  2. Optimistic rollups. Digital Wallets: MetaMask, Keplr, INTMAX
  3. ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens. Onchain governance.
  4. Bicameral governance on the Optimism network: Token House and Citizen House
  5. Impact = Profit
  6. Incentives and Retro Funding

Syllabus

Session 1: Digital wallets: Metamask, Keplr and Intmax. Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT). The blockchain technology and concepts: decentralization, transparency, traceability, privacy.

Session 2: Private and Public Blockchains. Blockchain 4 layers: Execution, Consensus, Data availability and Settlement. Monolithic and Modular Blockchains. Blockchains Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3.

Session 3: Ethereum and scalability: Rollups, Plasma, Validium. Optimism Rollup Protocol. Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) and Ethereum Request for Comments (ERC). ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens.

Session 4: Onchain Governance: Optimism example. Delegation. Optimism bicameral governance: Token House and Citizen House.

Session 5: Impact=Profit. Collective values. Grants Council. Mision Request and Retro Funding.
