 The region encompassing the Himalayan and Tibetan Plateau is of immense significance as it provides water resources for millions of people residing in the surrounding areas (Bookhagen and Burbank 2010). The water from this region provides drinking water, supports agricultural activities, is used for generating hydro power, and catering to other agro-economic requirements (Ménégoz et al. 2013). The area holds tremendous potential for developing hydro power and thus making the transition towards a greener economy more feasible.
