Vercel Web Analytics Implementation

Successfully installed and configured Vercel Web Analytics for this Next.js App Router project.

Changes Made:

  1. Installed @vercel/analytics package

    • Used npm to install @vercel/analytics (version managed by npm)
    • Updated package.json and package-lock.json accordingly
  2. Modified src/app/layout.tsx

    • Added import: import { Analytics } from '@vercel/analytics/next';
    • Added <Analytics /> component inside the <body> tag, placed after the closing </LanguageProvider> tag
    • Preserved all existing code structure, metadata, and components

Implementation Details:

The Analytics component was strategically placed:

  • Inside the <body> tag (required for proper functionality)
  • After the main application content (children wrapped in LanguageProvider)
  • This ensures analytics tracking starts after the page content is rendered

The existing structure includes:

  • LanguageProvider wrapper component
  • VisitTracker component
  • Main children content
  • Analytics component (newly added)

Verification Completed:

Build Test: Successfully ran npm run build - all pages compiled without errors
Linter Check: Ran npm run lint - no ESLint warnings or errors
TypeScript: No type errors introduced
Lock File: package-lock.json updated with new dependency

Project Context:

This is a Next.js 14.2.35 App Router project using TypeScript. The root layout file already had proper structure with metadata, JSON-LD schema, and custom components. The Analytics integration follows Next.js best practices for the App Router architecture.

Notes:

  • The Analytics component will automatically track page views and web vitals
  • No additional configuration is required - it works out of the box
  • Analytics data will be visible in the Vercel dashboard once deployed
  • The component is non-blocking and won't affect page performance
