Mostly to provide a github release "container" for publishing arduino firmware images.
The application itself is published as container images, these can be found here:

These container images are available on the github container registry (ghcr.io) with the same tags as here ('stable', 'development'): ghcr.io/juergenpabel/hal9000-* (as per above). It's probably advisable to use the installer app for this (https://github.com/juergenpabel/HAL9000-installer/), it will do all the downloading and installation work for you.
