The balancer depends on the Wombat serial number to find the correct access point profile. When serial reads fail or return empty output, the script can build the wrong SSID and then try to modify or restart a connection that should not be touched.
If the device serial cannot be read, the balancer stops instead of acting on a bad connection name. It also makes the serial read path simpler and less brittle.
The
debpackages were recommitted through Git LFS so the branch matches expected repo storage behavior.
