To quickly set up and run the Book-System API on your local development environment, we recommend using Docker Compose. This method streamlines the setup process and ensures that all required services are running in a consistent environment.
Clone the repository to your local machine:
git clone [email protected]:kradt/book-system.git
Navigate to the project directory:
cd book-system-api
Create a .env file in the project directory to store configuration variables. Populate the .env file with the necessary environment variables specific to your setup. Here is one essential variable:
DATABASE_URL=your-database-url
DATABASE_URL should be the connection URL for your database.
Before you begin, make sure you have the following prerequisites installed on your system:

- Start the application using Docker Compose:
docker-compose up -d

The API should now be running. You can access it at http://localhost:5000/

To stop the application and remove the containers, run:
docker-compose down
That's it! You're now ready to start using the Book-System API with Docker Compose on your local machine.
You have the option to either use the provided Book-System SDK or develop your own integration with the API.
