Administrator Privileges

"... if you want to test a man’s character, give him power." --Abraham Lincoln

Pro tip number 1: Administrators should be selected with care as you do not want someone who abuses their authority in this position. Your users will quickly grow tired of this.

Administrators have all of the abilities that IRC operators do along with the following:

  • Can issue the DIE, FJOIN, FNICK, FPART, FQUIT, IJOIN, JUPE, MEMORY, MODLIST, MODLOAD, MODRELOAD, MODUNLOAD, QLINE, SHUN, RESTART, and VHOST commands
  • Can set channel properties without being chanop
  • Can see client connect and quit messages
  • Can evade bans, bypass keys, join channels without invitation, and bypass channel limits
  • Cannot be banned, kicked, killed, or deoped except by other administrators and are notified when such actions are taken against them
  • Notified when a user performs a WHOIS on them
  • Can broadcast messages to alert users of maintenance and such

Administrators are provided with these tools for informational purposes and to assist users when operators cannot or when manual intervention is required in cases where network services are useless.
