Flutter_riverpod_quickstart

Welcome to the Flutter Riverpod Quick Starter! This project is powered by the VG CLI, a versatile command-line interface that simplifies your development process. You can learn more about the VG CLI by visiting this link.

While VG CLI initially utilizes the BLoC pattern for state management, we've chosen to implement Riverpod as the core state management solution for this starter project. Riverpod offers a more flexible and modern approach to managing application state. Learn more about Riverpod at riverpod.dev.

In this boilerplate, we've adopted a "feature-first" architecture to enhance modularity and maintainability. We've also incorporated three custom dependencies to streamline various aspects of your Flutter app:

1. Api Client:

  • We've implemented a robust API client for handling network calls and related issues. It leverages the following dependencies:
    • dio
    • equatable
    • flutter_easylogger
    • fpdart (used for Either capability; a transition to records is planned in the future)

For insights into error handling with records in Dart, check out this informative article: Dart Error Handling Using Records - Golang Style.

2. App UI:

  • This module is dedicated to managing all aspects of your app's user interface. We've carefully selected several dependencies to enhance your app's visual appeal and functionality:
    • cached_network_image
    • flutter_animate
    • flutter_easylogger
    • flutter_screenutil
    • gap
    • google_fonts
    • hooks_riverpod
    • image_picker

Feel free to tailor these pre-configured settings to align with your project's specific requirements.

App Utils: This section houses various project utilities, primarily comprising extensions that enhance code readability and maintainability.

In addition to the aforementioned dependencies, we've integrated several other crucial tools to elevate your Flutter development experience:

  • flutter_dotenv for managing environment variables (see the example below).
  • get_it for dependency injection.
  • go_router for streamlined routing within your app.
  • hive for efficient data storage.

Env Example:

dotenvCopy code

`HIVE_STAGING="hive_staging" BASEURL_STAGING=""

HIVE_PRODUCTION="hive_prod" BASEURL_PRODUCTION=""

HIVE_DEVELOPMENT="hive_dev" BASEURL_DEVELOPMENT=""`

Getting Started 🚀

This project contains 3 flavors:

  • development

  • staging

  • production

To run the desired flavor either use the launch configuration in VSCode/Android Studio or use the following commands:

# Development

$ flutter run --flavor development --target lib/main_development.dart

# Staging

$ flutter run --flavor staging --target lib/main_staging.dart

# Production

$ flutter run --flavor production --target lib/main_production.dart

*Riverpod Ddd works on iOS, Android, Web, and Windows.

Running Tests 🧪

To run all unit and widget tests use the following command:

flutter  test  --coverage  --test-randomize-ordering-seed  random

To view the generated coverage report you can use lcov.

# Generate Coverage Report

$  genhtml  coverage/lcov.info  -o  coverage/

# Open Coverage Report

$  open  coverage/index.html

Working with Translations 🌐

This project relies on flutter_localizations and follows the official internationalization guide for Flutter.

Adding Strings

  1. To add a new localizable string, open the app_en.arb file at lib/l10n/arb/app_en.arb.

{

"@@locale": "en",

"counterAppBarTitle": "Counter",

"@counterAppBarTitle": {

"description": "Text shown in the AppBar of the Counter Page"

}

}

  1. Then add a new key/value and description

{

"@@locale": "en",

"counterAppBarTitle": "Counter",

"@counterAppBarTitle": {

"description": "Text shown in the AppBar of the Counter Page"

},

"helloWorld": "Hello World",

"@helloWorld": {

"description": "Hello World Text"

}

}

  1. Use the new string
import  'package:riverpod_ddd/l10n/l10n.dart';

@override

Widget  build(BuildContext context) {

final l10n = context.l10n;

return  Text(l10n.helloWorld);

}

Adding Supported Locales

Update the CFBundleLocalizations array in the Info.plist at ios/Runner/Info.plist to include the new locale.

...

<key>CFBundleLocalizations</key>

<array>

<string>en</string>

<string>es</string>

</array>

...

Adding Translations

  1. For each supported locale, add a new ARB file in lib/l10n/arb.

├── l10n

│ ├── arb

│ │ ├── app_en.arb

│ │ └── app_es.arb

  1. Add the translated strings to each .arb file:

app_en.arb

{

"@@locale": "en",

"counterAppBarTitle": "Counter",

"@counterAppBarTitle": {

"description": "Text shown in the AppBar of the Counter Page"

}

}

app_es.arb

{

"@@locale": "es",

"counterAppBarTitle": "Contador",

"@counterAppBarTitle": {

"description": "Texto mostrado en la AppBar de la página del contador"

}

}
