#GeoGig 1.2.0 Release Notes (work in progress)

October 19, 2017.

##Clone/Fetch/Replication Improvements

Details forthcoming

##Web API Refresh

The GeoGig web API has been re-implemented using Spring MVC (replaces Restlet). This change preserves the API (endpoints and Request-Response interchanges), but enables the GeoServer plugin for GeoGig to be compatible with GeoServer 2.12 and newer.
However, the change prevents newer versions of GeoGig from being used with older versions of GeoServer, and vice versa.

For GeoServer 2.12 and newer, you must use GeoGig version 1.2.0 or newer.
For GeoServer 2.11 and older, you must use GeoGig version 1.1.1.

The GeoGig [releases page](https://github.com/locationtech/geogig/releases) contains the GeoServer plugin bundles with the appropriate versions of GeoGig.
