This should work in the meantime, the only thing you need to set is the LINUX_IMAGE_NAME.

DEPLOYMENT_TYPE=installer
ARCH=amd64

LINUX_IMAGE_NAME="linux-image-generic"
INSTALLER_EXTRA_MODULES="i915 nvme"
